Re: Model "Blue Train" Class 303

It was interesting to see the discussions on a model "Blue Train "Class 303 EMU. I actually contacted Accurascale a few months ago regarding manufacturing Class 303 units in their original Caledonian Blue livery. They will consider this at their development meeting - so fingers crossed it...

Anbrico Models class 303

I vagely recalled that Anbrico Models offered this kit in the back pages of the "Railway Modeller" in the late 60's, and a little searching brought up this link:

Many thanks Keith.
I'll pass that on to the Crieff Lines group.
That's a great story about assisting on the turntable!

Train crew query: Dundee-Oban excursion 1929?

My interest was piqued a few weeks ago by a post on the Crieff Lines Facebook page describing the above excursion. The ensuing discussion veered round to the loco crew arrangements. I have no expertise to comment but wonder if a member of this forum has? I have copied the relevant discussion below, ...

"Loch Dochart Private Platform"?

A youtube video, from a couple claiming to document abandoned stations, features the C&O from Crianlarich to Callander: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJxK81ee7pI At 1:26 they mention "Loch Dochart Private Platform", and at 2:20 show a still photo alleging to be the site in question. ...

Thanks Jim
I can picture it being Balquidder after viewing it a few more times. The lack of vegetation compared with today is striking!

Bowling Swing Bridge Planning Permission

Scottish Canals have posted another short video. This is to tie in with the granting of planning permission to restore the bridge as a link, from the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath to the Caley trackbed cycle path, north of the old Dumbarton Road. There are a couple of historic still photos (worth pa...

Re: Bowling Harbour renovation video

Allan, your mention of the trams at the Great Western Road canal bridge intrigued me, so I did a bit of searching: "Great Western Road's reserved track from Knightswood to Blairdardie was opened in 1949 but further extension was thwarted by the seemingly-insurmountable canal bridge." This ...
