Re: An etch of odds and ends

Somebody has already picked up my earlier suggestion of various sizes of poster boards. Did the standard Trespass sign have a standard frame and post. Most of us with models could do with a few of these. My other suggestions are a ground signal and point levers. These are already available from othe...

The next 4mm wagon project

Following the success of the Pickering wagon bodies we are looking at the next project. Many of you will know we already have proposals to include the 8-ton dead buffer mineral wagon (diagram 22) and 8-ton sprung buffer mineral wagon (diagram 46) and an outside framed 7-ton mineral wagon in the prog...

Re: Train moves within station limits

For Blairgowrie I know that the Statioonmaster had jurisdiction over all movements in the station area inside the signal cabin. The engine release crossover at the platform was operated from a dwarf frame openned by a key issued by the signalman but I believe the engine driver had to get permission ...

Re: R Y Pickering Traders Wagon in 4mm

I have now to confirm that the batch of 50 RYP traders wagon castings is fully subscribed. In the unlikely event that the manufacrurers provide me with more than 50 I will post another note to auction the surplus. Thanks to all those who contributed and commiserations to anybody who missed the boat....

Re: Locomotive cab fronts by Connor

I sould have added - with the cab sides attached before filing so you can tidy up the roof to side joins while you are filing.

Re: Locomotive cab fronts by Connor

I have done a couple by soldering a piece of 1mm x 1mm square nickel silver joining the weather board (is this the correct name for the cab front?) and the roof and then filing to shape.

Re: R Y Pickering Traders Wagon in 4mm

A couple of people have been counting planks on the RY Pickering prototype wagon photos and our model pattern. Courtesy of Mike Williams I have attached 3 photos of RYP wagons with 5 planks. David Blevins kindly provided details of these from the RYP order books. Photo 1 – “Hamilton Palace Colliery”...

Re: R Y Pickering Traders Wagon in 4mm

The GA drawings I have came from the HMRS collection many years ago. There was a very limited selection available at the time and as I remember most of these were from the 1900-1902 period and most featured wagons with iron underframes. I will post a list of what I have in due course. I no longer be...

R Y Pickering Traders Wagon in 4mm

Subscribers to the earlier incarnation of the Forum will remember our plan to produce some cast resin bodies for CR wagons. A straw poll at the time revealed that a Pickering traders wagon would be the most popular choice, nobody having produced a kit for one of these in 4mm scale before. I am pleas...

John Boyle etches and Conner 2-4-0

I had a long telephone chat with John this morning. He has now moved the last of his railway stuff to Lydney. He asked me to post a notice on the Forum to advise those who still have orders outstanding for etches and kits that he will get these completed and dispatched early in the new year. The oth...

Re: A Caledonian Impedimenta Etch

I too would like an etch - I will put my mind to listing what could be on it. I am happy to put some money up front for a good cause. We should include poster boards if John Boyle can't be persuaded to redo his etch. He used to do a very nice etch in nickel silver with various sizes of CR poster boa...

Classes 903 and 191 Drawings

Further to ny note about the engine drawings I successfully scanned and sent copies of the class 903 and 191 engine drawings to a Forum member. These drawings are scanned into 3 sections for the 903 and 5 for the 191 to allow for folds in the originals and the fact that my scanner only copes with ma...

Re: 4mm Locomotive, a potential new kit

Following my visit to Dave Lochrie mentioned in his note I checked my files but I don't have a copy of Peter James's drawing for the Coast Bogie. Peter built a very nice EM gauge model from his drawing. I wonder where this is now. John Boyle says he has done a 12mm to the foot scale drawing of the C...

Re: Stevens ground frames

I would certainly like one is 4mm scale for my version of Blairgowrie. The ground frame at Blair has 2 levers and was located just outside the overall roof between the passnger line and goods shed road. Presumably each of the levers operated a turnoout. The frame was opened by a key issued to the en...
