New 7mm class 191 loco kit.

Post by Tony Guyan »

Hello all,

Ace kits will be supplying the new 191 kit from the beginning of January. This kit has been drawn by member David Gallacher and it does have the correct tender. I cannot wait to have one on my layout.

Hi

Has this loco kit been released yet?

Can you post link to the website please. I have been watching a site that offers several very tempting Caley locos, including the 55 and 179. I am looking at the correct site? Any help would be much appreciated.

Any info would be welcome.

The Ace Products site is, shall we say, eccentric at the best of times but I cannot find any trace of this. He also displays incorrect prices, which is a naughty thing to do, but at least he does sometimes sell you things - which is nice.

Hi John
I hope to be at the AGM on Saturday and I can put you in the picture regarding the progress of this kit It has not been advertised by Ace, I don't think William Ascough believes that this is likely to be a commercial sucess, so it did not come cheaply. So far only three kits have been produced and sold and I am currently building mine.

Has he ever considered using a kick-starter type fund raiser to judge demand? That way he gets feed back on possible projects.

On the subject of 191 does anyone have any knowledge about CAD and 3D printing? Specifically how difficult or easy would it be to transfer/use data from models such as Victorian Lad's fabulous TS 191 to make a 3D print?

I have attached a still I found recently of his previews I believe and fabulous it looks too.

as always kindest

Hi,
Don't know enough about 3d CAD to comment on whether a 3d print could be made from this image, however to have a running model, you would need frames for the loco and tender and motion parts for the loco which I doubt would work unless printed in brass/nickel silver. i have attached a progress photo of the 191 from the kit mentioned at the top of this topic.

Hi,
In my previous post I forgot to mention that I am aware that the safety valve casting supplied is incorrect and currently an alternative is being looked for, any suggestions would be welcome.
