‘BackTrack’, June ’23 : feature on closure of the Ballachulish Branch.

The latest issue of this monthly publication arrived through my letter box the other day, and as per usual, made for fascinating reading. Not only was there the usual assortment of authoritative railway articles, but a fascinating piece surveying the demise and closure of the Ballachulish Branch was evident, written by David Spaven. The text is very well written, and, along with a good assortment of both b&w and colour photographs, there is a well-drawn map of the terrain from Oban due northwards to Ballachulish. Five colour images are evident, two of which illustrate the two-tone livery scheme of cream and brown as applied to the goods shed. The loco shed also appears in overall brown.

Please see below on ‘Forum’ for the two-tone livery scheme as applied to ‘Cambusnethan Goods Shed’ and so on, and the debate/points of information, which followed.

This publication is well worth checking out.
