Aberdeen Ferryhill - coal stage roof

Post by Jim Summers »

Mike Yeoman, whose modelling work on Ferryhill has been shown before (and there is more to come in TTL) is puzzled about the evolution of the coal stage roof.

You will note in the first (aerial) shot that the original Caley coaling stage at Ferryhill had 5 roof lights, but the later 1960’s shot shows 3, with an obvious replacement piece of roof, between it and the WW2 built LMS extension on the LHS.

Does anyone have any info about this replacement roof, when it was built and why?

Jim, on behalf of Mike, who is in New Zealand.
